Operations Management Opportunities

Lands' End's Operations intern program encompasses the departments in the Distributions and Clerical operations. These positions are designed for students who are seeking experience in a fast-paced production enviroment. You will assist the department supervisor with a wide range of technical and administrative responsibilities. You will apply this experience during our busy holiday season as you take on a leadership role in a department. This internship will last eight months and is offered from the Summer through the Fall semester, approximately June through December. The following internship opportunities within the Operations management area are as follows:

Corporate Sales
Customer Sales

  Customer Service
Operations Management

Specialized/Technical

Operations Management

Health & Fitness

Corporate Sales (Production)

Preferred Degrees: Industrial Technology, Apparel Production, Business Administration
  Semester Offered: Summer - Fall (June - Dec.)

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Collect and analyze data using a variety of PC software for projects
  2. Perform time studies and present findings on process improvement (IT, Production majors)
  3. Research new or recently upgraded equipment and perform testing on new products (IT, Production majors)
  4. Hands-on training in CAD and/or Embroidery departments (graphic design cousework helpful)
  5. Training and supervising a staff of new employees through the peak season (Business Administration majors)

Customer Sales

Preferred Degrees: Business Administration, Communications, Liberal Arts
  Semester Offered: Summer - Fall (June - Dec.)

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Support the department in the planning, orginization, productivity and control of the area
  2. Assist in the interviewing and selection process during peak employment periods and assist in the training of all new hires
  3. Develop management style through a series of workshops/training sessions offered
  4. Assume a leadership role during the peak season by supervising a group of employees

Customer Service

Preferred Degrees: Business, Communications, Liberal Arts
  Semester Offered: Summer - Fall (June - Dec.)

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Work with customer satisfication issues by either receiving or initiating customer correspondence
  2. Partner with merchandising teams on backorder situations
  3. Work with bank centers and/or customers on credit authorization issues
  4. Special projects related to Lands' End standard of customer service

Operations Management

Preferred Degrees: Business, Operations Management
  Semester Offered: Summer - Fall (June - Dec.)

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Hands-on training in packing, orderfilling and material handling aspects of the distribution center
  2. Develop management style through series of workshops/training sessions offered
  3. Assume leadreship role during the peak season by supervising group of employees
  4. Traing new employees hired for peak season
  5. Conducting performance evaluations and providing guidance when necessary
